To collect your performance royalties, you and your music must be registered with a Performing Rights Organization (PRO).

Performing Rights Organizations Assignments:

  1. 1. If you’re a Songwriter, select one Performing Rights Organization (PRO) from the list below and sign up for an account.

  2. 2. Add a bookmark for your account to your browser.

  3. 3. Register your music with your PRO. This must be done so you can collect your songwriter’s share of your performance royalties. You may also sign up to collect the publisher’s share of your performance royalties through your PRO, however, your PRO will only collect the publisher’s share within the country they reside. To collect the publisher’s share internationally, you must sign up and register with a Publishing Administrator (see below for instructions).

  4. TIP: If you plan on signing up for SongTrust or Tunecore, they will also register you with your PRO (As a publisher only), so you can save yourself a step by signing up with them first. That said, there are one-time fees to sign up with SongTrust ($100) and Tunecore ($75) (Note: Fees may change). If you choose to wait and sign up with a Publishing Administrator in the future, then we recommend signing up for BMI, ASCAP or the country’s PRO now.

  • BMI (Free): BMI.com

  • ASCAP ($50 fee as a songwriter / $50 fee as publisher): ASCAP.COM
